The Franco-German debate series “Wachstum Und/Oder Wohlstand” (Growth And/Or Prosperity) brought together economists, researchers and public figures to discuss the future of economic growth and the societal challenges facing Europe.
For this program organized by the Institut Français in Germany and the Bertelsmann Foundation, I created a series of original illustrations used across the event’s communication materials.

Visual Language

The illustrations follow a minimal and expressive graphic style, combining simplified shapes with visible hand-drawn outlines. This approach creates a balance between clarity and warmth, making the visuals both easy to understand and visually distinctive.

The color palette is limited to vibrant red and turquoise green, creating strong contrast and ensuring immediate recognition across different communication formats.

Logotype

Creating the logotype was a particular challenge due to the length of the title and the need to make it work across different formats. It also had to reflect the idea of an ongoing debate and discussion, while remaining accessible in both German and French. The final typographic treatment balances these constraints with a clear, contemporary and recognisable identity.

Iconography

A set of graphic icons was designed to support the program’s communication across different media.
These icons maintain the same simplified visual language and help structure information related to the conferences, topics and events, while reinforcing the identity’s overall coherence.

Applications

The illustrations were used across various communication materials related to the debate series, including: event posters • conference presentations and stage visuals • printed and digital communication • informational graphics.
